NO CONFIDENTIAL.
GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
HONG KONG. 1st October 1929.
My Lord,
I have the honour to request Your
Lordship's ruling in the following matter.
2. Under General Order No. 133. issued
by this Government in January, 1921, on the
Voo. 4o4e5/20. authority of the late Lord ilner's confidential
Cam & Tel - 11/1/29.
despatch of the 1st September, 1920, European
officers of this service may accumulate vacation
leave at the rate of one-eighth of their resident
service up to a maximum of five months.
3. It has been customary to give the full
benefit of this regulation to officers leaving
this Colony with a view to retirement; but I am
not sure that this is in accordance with Colonial
Regulation 126, for the Colonial Regulations do not provide for more than three months' vacation leave
as a maximum (vide Colonial Regulation 112) and I
notice that the limitation of three months is
adopted by the Straits Settlements. I shall
therefore be glad to have Your Lordship's decision as to whether this limitation should also apply to
Hong Kong.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
LORD PASSFIED,

My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient,humble servant,
